Shahrul, Zack and I flew into Kuching the night before on our tour of duty around Borneo. We were met at the airport by Awang, one of our vendors. We checked into Holiday Inn Kuching, a preferred hotel by the river front. Then we left for dinner with the other vendors at the famous Top Spot. It was less crowded than before when I used to frequent Kuching.
Getting the game rolling with the club house in the background.
Shahrul has the more graceful swing amongst the 3 of us.
Lani was in top form
Zack with his swing
My practice swing is always better than the real one.
A not so graceful real shot!
Kelab Golf Sarawak is a 36-hole course located within the city. It has four 9s, Siol, Demak,Matang and Santubong. We played at Demak(3135 metre from blue tee) and Matang (3029 metre). It was rainy season and we were told it rained almost every evening. The fairways were soggy from rain the night before. The weather was golfer’s friendly, with heavy overcast throughout the 18 holes.
Lani continued to play good golf. The 3 of us managed to shoot a birdie each. Zack and I birdied the second Matang hole, a 366 metre par 4. My second shot landed almost within a putter length for an easy birdie. Shahrul got it on the last hole after having a not so good round earlier.
